A POLITICAL CARTOON FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

The WorkShop Theater Company, in association with the creative team from
Theater Garden Inc. - Dana Leslie Goldstein (book and lyrics), Jonathan
Goldstein (music and additional lyrics), Robert Bruce McIntosh (director),
John Bronston (arrangements, musical director) and Paul Aguirre
(choreographer) - is developing a new family-appropriate musical
based on Theater Garden Inc.'s successful children's musical "Lady of Copper".

HORIZON

Lady Liberty, played by Nedra McClyde, is left to fend for herself
in the New World, just like so many other immigrants.

BARTHOLDI'S FOLLY

Liberty (Nedra McClyde) discovers she must raise
the money for her own pedestal, but not everyone
is thrilled with the idea of immigrants asking for handouts.

BARTHOLDI'S FOLLY (cont'd)

One in particular who would like to send Miss Liberty packing
is Mr. Francis Walker (center, Richard Kent Green), Head of
Immigration and Commissioner of Indian Affairs for New York.

BARTHOLDI'S FOLLY (reprise)

Just when things look darkest, Joseph Pulitzer comes on the scene to give
Liberty's image a lift through his World newspaper.

AMERICA FOR AMERICANS

Events finally come to a head when Walker gives a speech
about keeping America safe for the "real Americans".

THE NEW COLOSSUS

Liberty's made some other friends along the way, it seems.
Her torch is united with her and Emma Lazarus writes
a famous poem for the World.

HUDDLED MASSES

Americans of all stripes send in their pennies, nickels & dimes,
Liberty gets her pedestal (were you ever worried?)
and Emma's poem makes a terrific finale.
